CONTEST RULES AND REGULATIONS
*Length of script must be under 15 pages
*Scripts must be authored or co-authored by a woman
*Script may be in any genre
*Screenwriters of all ages are allowed
*For legal reasons, KCWIFT & AMC THEATRES KC FILMFEST can accept only original screenplays by copyright holder(s).
*In order to ensure a blind reading by our judges, name(s) of author(s) can NOT be included in the submitted script. This includes in the PDF file name if electronically submitted. Screenplay titles only – A CLEAN TITLE PAGE. Screenplay title MUST be included in submitted pdf script.
*Screenplays NOT adhering to rules and regulations are subject to disqualification at the sole discretion of the judging panel.
*Screenwriters who are disqualified are NOT eligible for refund of any submitted fees.

$45 Entry fee for scripts entered after Jan 1 but before final deadline

PRIZES
FIRST PLACE - A $1,000 prize offered to the winning female writer/filmmaker, to use as they see fit in creating their short film.
FINALISTS - There will be a staged reading of finalists’ screenplays at 2012 AMC Theatres Kansas City FilmFest. Finalists will also receive festival passes to 2012 AMC Theatres Kansas City FilmFest.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
KCWIFT and AMC Theatres Kansas City FilmFest are hereby granted the right to utilize an excerpt from any script submitted and accepted for promotional purposes. Due to volume of submissions KCWIFT will NOT return copies of submitted scripts. KCWIFT will request and is hereby granted the right to use footage from project funded and created from winning screenplay for promotional purposes related to KCWIFT and KCWIFT Short Screenplay Contest. This includes but is not limited to KCWIFT website, screenings and social media. KCWIFT holds no ownership rights to project completed as result of KCWIFT Short Screenplay Contest and is not responsible for production, promotion, or distribution of project. KCWIFT will request their logo be included in credits of any short film created and produced from winning screenplay. Entrants shall indemnify and hold KCWIFT and 2012 AMC Theatres Kansas City Film Fest harmless from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, and loss of or damage to the scripts entered.
MISSION OF CONTEST
Kansas City Women In Film & Television has partnered with AMC Theatres KC FilmFest with an annual short screenwriting competition aimed to promote the work of women screenwriters/filmmakers and support their effort to make their short film with a $1000 prize. The prize will be announced at the 2012 AMC Theatres Kansas City FilmFest.
